It's one of my favorite days...opening day of baseball season!! It was a beautiful Saturday morning and we had reason to be excited and honored! Andrew was asked by the league to throw out the opening pitch this year! The league was teaming up with St. Baldricks to raise money for childhood cancer. They had asked if they could honor our boy by having him throw out the first pitch. We were very honored!! The whole family was there to cheer him on. After the teams were announced they called Andrew out. They read his story and I think we were all a bit of an emotional mess (I was hiding behind the camera taking many pictures). It was amazing to hear the whole place cheer for your son because of how brave he has been! Andrew did great and smiled the whole time! A little girl who has also had cancer delivered the ball to him and it was time for him to throw it out. He did a wonderful job! I love looking at the pictures and seeing all the coaches and players in the background watching him! It was a very special time and we are so proud of Andrew!! His game with the Blue Ningas started right after the ceremony so within 15 minutes of throwing the opening pitch he was on the mound pitching for his team. In the first inning he struck 2 guys out and fielded a grounder to throw the guy out at first. When they came up to bat he was the first one up and hit a triple! He proceeded to have a great game with another triple and a single. He was one happy boy..even though the Ningas lost..they played hard! There were many emotions for this daddy and mommy in that hour...from hearing his story and watching him throw out the first pitch to seeing him play an amazing first inning! My eyes had trouble recovering from tears!! We are excited for this baseball season...we have amazing coaches and a great team!!
